Description

London: Subscription books, minute books, index to correspondence, and other papers of a Committee for the relief of certain distressed districts in the Metropolis.

Please note that this piece is wider ranging than just London and includes, inter alia:

  • Society for Improving the Condition of the Irish Peasantry. 1823 report from parish of Bannow, Co Wexford.
  • The Ladies' Hibernian Female School Society, 1823.
  • Agricultural School of Bannow, barony of Bargie, Co Wexford, 1823.
  • Pamphlet authored by Robert Owen (of New Lanark fame) on 'The Power that Ireland Possesses to Create Wealth beyond the Most Ample Supply of the Wants of its Inhabitants', 1823.
  • Unnamed Female Emigrants from Cork to NSW.
  • Copy of Cork Mercantile Chronicle of 27th June 1832.
  • Copy of Connaught Journal of 5th Nov 1827.
  • Material on the relief of distress being suffered by weavers in Blackburn, Lancashire.

This is in addition to the London material, which most relates to the Metropolitan Relief Committee of 1832.
