Description

Folios 56-57: James Walker, HMS Tartar, South Yarmouth. Is forwarding a copy of Captain Cunningham's order for HMS Maidstone to join him off Cape Barfleur. He will water the ship and proceed to Stoke's Bay to complete his provisions.

Folio 58: enclosure with folios 56-57. Order dated 10 September 1801 from Charles Cunningham to James Walker to proceed to Cape Barfleur and relieve Captain Donnelly in HMS Maidstone. He is to take the gun brigs HMS Basilisk and HMS Bloodhound under his command and to cruise off Cape Barfleur until Captain Donnelly joins him. He is to complete watering HMS Tartar either at South Yarmouth or Torbay before joining the Squadron off Le Havre.
