Folios 239-240: Isaac George Manley, Oxford. States having discharged himself and Lieutenant [Richard] Saunders and Lieutenant [Martin] Brookes as per directions having not received your letter dated 4 August 1795 till today, signifying their directions to him to order one Lieutenant to remain at Oxford to receive Substitutes, attending the Magistrates and for carrying into execution the Act [1790] respecting the Admeasurement of Barses[?] [registering of boats, barges, and other vessels]. In answer he informs that both Lieutenant Saunders and Lieutenant Brooks are returned home. He shall wait at Oxford to receive Substitutes , and their Lordships further Orders. He suggests they appoint Lieutenant Saunders to the post.
