Description

Folios: 372-372v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Hawise, relict of Adam the carpenter of Schitebroc [Skidbrooke].

Second party: Philip Galle.

Place or subject: The whole land which Hawise had at the port of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby] lying on the west side of the royal way between the land of William son of Geoffrey on the north side and Curnesse on the south side, and the width of sixteen feet next to Philip's land, which extends from the royal way to the great Cryke towards the west in length, together with a moiety of one holme. Without any reservation, for three marks which Philip gave to Hawise in advance. To hold to Philip and his heirs of Hawise and her heirs freely and quietly, in fee and inheritance, with all appurtenances and easements. Paying 6d yearly to Hawise and her heirs at four terms of the year, namely 1½d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all services, customs, suits of courts and demands.
