Folio 87. Letter dated at Whitehall from the King to the Prince of Orange that he is surprised by the States make difficulties in letting the common soldiers of his six regiments have the same liberty which they grant the officers, they being all equally his subjects. The King had no reason to expect such an answer and has instructed his envoy to speak to both the Prince and the States on the subject.
