Folio(s) 193-194. Letter from W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, in reply to their query of 1 May 1856 concerning the appointment of medical officers to the 2nd, 4th and 5th districts. He states that there had been no medical officer for the 2nd district to which Mr Paulson was appointed. Mr Lomax is in district 4. The matter will be put before the board of guardians at their next meeting and minuted, with the board giving their reasons for the appointments as pointed out in the Board's letter. Mr Spencer of the 5th district had a warrant from the Royal Navy which is lost, but he does have a certificate from Sir W Burnett, Inspector of Hospitals. An extract was sent to the Board on 15 June last.Annotated: reserve.
