Description

Prisoner name(s): James Thompson.

Prisoner age: 33.

Court and date of trial: Yarmouth Gaol Delivery 1 April 1828.

Crime: Stealing from his master, D Hogarth.

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Gaoler's report: 'Character, disposition, connections and former course of life good.'

Annotated (Outcome): Nil. 'Not be sent out of the country 10 April 1828.'

Petitioner(s): The prisoner and 12 people.

The prisoner and 14 people.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): First offence; the prisoner committed the crime in an unguarded moment and feels the deepest contrition; the prisoner has a wife and two small children who depend upon him for support; the prisoner's previous good behaviour.
