The Army Pathology Advisory Committee was formed in 1919 to advise the Director General Army Medical Services on matters connected with pathology and allied subjects in the Army.

In November, 1923, the services of the Committee were extended to the Royal Air Force and on the 10 September, 1956 to the Royal Navy, but the central Committee retained its original title.
