First Act obtained was that dated 21st September 1715 (7 Geo I, cap.8) enabling Proprietors of Kennet (or Kennett) River Navigation to make river navigable from Reading to Newbury. Shares were purchased by Kennet and Avon Canal Navigation under Act of 3rd June 1813.
