Description

Folios 191-192: Richard Hawkins, HMS Minerva, Plymouth. Covering letter for the enclosed order of Mr [Samuel Hewitt] Moore Acting Lieutenant of HMS Minerva and sate his conduct has been highly deserving of the promotion he solicits.

Folios 193-194: enclosure with folios 191-192. Letter dated 29 March 1814 by Samuel [Hewitt] Moore, HMS Minerva, Plymouth Sound, to the Admiralty. Covering letter for the enclosed order as Acting Lieutenant of HMS Minerva and having been an admiralty candidate since August 1812 he request to be placed on the List of Lieutenants.

Folios 194-195: enclosure with folios 191-192. Orders dated 18 October 1813 by Rear Admiral William Brown, HMS Shark, Port Royal, to Midshipman Samuel [Hewitt] Moore. HMS Shark. Orders to act as Lieutenant on HMS Minerva.

Folios 196-197: enclosure with folios 191-192. [Copies of seven letters of recommendation] From:- George Argles HMS Trusty 12 February 1806, Brian Hodgson HMS Trusty 14 May 1808, William Pryce Cumby HMS Polyphemus 10 July 1810, John Alexander HMS Fleur [Fleur de la Mer ➡ 1808 Pike] 25 September 1810, John Alexander HMS Hebe 9 January 1811, John Fleming HMS Bramble 22 February 1811 & George Mowbray HMS Rhodian 6 March 1811.
