Folios 163-164: Frederick Hickey, HMS Atalante, Halifax Harbour. Reports his arrival in Halifax and forwards his log. Their Lordships will see he landed Brigadier General Swayne at Sydney in 1 January. He encloses a copies of a letter from Lieutenant Governor Smith and his reply and other letters for their Lordships information. In accordance with his orders he will join Admiral Sir John Warren as soon as the ship is ready.
Folios 165-166: enclosure with folios 163-164. Letter dated November 1812 by James Pulling, Master, HMS Atalante. Complains about the conduct of the Master of the Eliza Packet who had chased the convoy, fired off a gun and then denied it, refused to give a receipt for a letter and generally treated him [Pulling] with contempt.
Folio 167: enclosure with folios 163-164. Philip Hamon, on board the John and Elizabeth in the convoy. A witness statement of the incidence when the convoy was fired on.
Folios 168-169: enclosure with folios 163-164. Letter dated 12 November 1812 by Frederick Hickey, HMS Atalante at sea. Covering letter enclosing Mr. Pullings letter and asks that the behaviour of Royal Mail packet captains towards the Royal Navy be addressed. Gives his version of the exchange of gunfire between the convoy and the Eliza and the subsequent insolent behaviour of the captain.
Folio 170: enclosure with folios 163-164. Letter dated 1 January 1813 by C. Douglas Smith, Lieutenent Governor Prince Edward Island. Asks that he be given passage to Prince Edward Island.
Folio 171: enclosure with folios 163-164. Letter dated 2 January 1813 Frederick Hickey, HMS Atalante, Sydney. Replies to Douglas Smith that given the season he cannot take him to Prince Edward Island. No pilot is prepared to attempt it as it would be too dangerous. He will be going to Halifax and Douglas Smith is welcome to take passage there.
