Folios 389-390: Andrew Broun, Regulating Officer, Greenock Rendezvous. Following his letter of last night [Cap B535] not having had an opportunity of putting his intention to deliver up the Ship Wright (Alexander Wear [Wier]) in execution. He was this morning visited by Mr Dunlop the Chief Magistrate, who gave him proof of support and protection in the execution of his duty, by requesting the Gentlemen of the Town to Act as Special Constables and also by calling out the Volunteers. He today visited the different Dock Yards in company with both the Magistrates, Mr Dunlop and Mr Fairrie accompanied by the Master Ship Wrights who explained the situation.
