1. Copy of admittance on payment of fine Hugh Todd (Vicar) of Thomas Nicholson of Rickerby to the tithe-hay of Stanwix, 1685, with Dr Waugh's comments on this

2. Admittance of Thomas Nixon to part of a tenement in Stainton [p. Stanwix] in the Manor of Stainton and Barony of Burgh, annual rent 7s. 6d., fine £7. 1s. 8d, 28 May 1714

3. Admittance of Thomas Nixon, on the death of Richard, Viscount Lonsdale, to the same property, paying same rent and fine, 20 October 1715

4. Surrender out of Court by James Halton of parcel of land in the Manor of Dalston, in Buckabank, viz. two closes called Dollyfield Closes and 1 close called Parrock (total 4 acres in all), yearly rent 2s. 0d., to the use of the Rev. John Waugh, M.A., Vicar of Stanwix and his successors as Vicars of Stanwix; proviso that if the said James Halton, his heirs, executors, or assigns, shall pay to the said Rev. John Waugh at his (Mr Waugh's) house at Stanwix on 1 August next after this surrender (1730) the sum of 40s. 0d., and £52 on 1 August 1731, then this surrender shall be void

4. Admittance of the said Rev. John Waugh thereto, rent 2s., fine 2s. [sic], 23 August 1728

6. Copies of same by Dr Waugh (1730), with further comments by Paley on Todd's part in the matter, and that in 1803 one tenant repeatedly refused to pay it to the Vicar, 1794, continued in 1803

7. Articles of agreement (Chancellor Waugh, the vicar, and 8 local men) to free from tithes for the first 4 years after ploughing their newly-enclosed ex-common land at Daily Riggs, adjoining Kingmoor, "for the Encouragement of Tillage", 28 March 1730

8. Memorandum of Agreement by Dr Waugh to let the Stanwix Glebe and the churchyard's grass to John Boustead elder and younger of Stanwix, blacksmiths, for 7 years or till lessor die or remove elsewhere; rent £6 p.a. (pro rata if lessor die or remove); covenant of lessee to maintain the hedge newly-made along the Military Road for Stanwix Glebe and Churchyard at a cost of £1. 8s. 9¼d. (paid by Dr Waugh to the two Bousteads, for making it), on payment by the Doctor of 5s. 0d. a year, and to leave it in good condition; said hedge is presently of "young Quicks and Crabbs", 2 July 1752

Memorandum of agreement by Dr Waugh to let the Stanwix parish tithe corn and hay (the Swifts only excepted), small tithes, and prescriptions (except for wool and lamb tithes and mortuaries and augmentations), to Watson Carnaby of Carlisle City, gent., Thomas Lowry of Stanwix, gent., and John Boustead of Tarraby, yeoman, for £50 p.a. rent, term 1 year, 20 April 1757

10. Memorandum of agreement by Dr Waugh to let the Stanwix parish tithe corn and hay (Swifts' only excepted), small tithes, wool and lamb tithes, to Peter Clementson and William Losh for 3 years or till the Doctor's death or resignation of Stanwix; rent, £50 (pro rata if lease die within a rent-year); excepts all mortuaries, augmentations, surplice fees, and Drawdikes and Linstock prescriptions, 3 February 1758

11. Memorandum of agreement by Dr Waugh to let to Thomas Benson of Carlisle City, Esq., all tithes of wool, lamb, hay, fish, and all other vicarial tithes due from him (Benson) as farmer of the Swifts, for as long as Waugh be Vicar of Stanwix and Benson farm the Swifts; rent £2. 2s. p.a., pro rata if lease ceases during a year, 4 February 1764

12. Lease by the Dean and Chapter of Carlisle to the Rev. James Farish, Vicar of Stanwix, of their tithes of corn, grain, and sheaves of Kennyholm in the Manor of the Soccage of Carlisle Castle, formerly in the possession of Joseph Appleby, gent., or his assigns, and now in the possession of the said James Farish; term, 21 years, or until he cease to be vicar of Stanwix, whichever is the sooner; annual rent, 2s. ancient rent and 3s. additional rent, payable "upon the great blue marble stone in the North Isle of the said Church" [i.e. on Prior Senhouse's tomb-top in the North Transept of the Cathedral], 23 June 1766

13. Lease by the Rev. James Farish, Vicar of Stanwix, to Thomas Hodgson, yeoman, and Robert Nicol, carpenter, both of Stanwix, of the 3 acre close bounded by Stanwix Churchyard on the east; term, 7 years, or (if sooner) until Mr Farish die or cease to be Vicar of Stanwix; rent £15. 15s. p.a., and £20 p.a. additional rent for every acre ploughed, dug, broken up, pared, eared, or converted into tillage without Mr Farish's prior leave in writing; if less than an acre so ploughed (etc.) pro rata additional rent; proviso for repossession if rent be over 40 days in arrears; lessees to maintain the gates, stiles, mounds, bounds, hedges, and fences, and scour and keep clean the furrows ditches and water courses, 14 February 1777

Joseph Hudson, Vicar of Stanwix, to Thomas Atkinson of Carlisle City, Esq., and 20 others including Thomas Hodgson of Stanwix, gent., James Boustead of Linstock, yeoman, William Hodgson of Houghton House, Esq., George Robinson of Green Lane p. Dalston, gent., Thomas Halton, gent., and John Ferguson, manufacturer, both of English Street, Carlisle, and George Relph of Carlisle, draper, of all the Stanwix parish tithes, prescriptions, and oblations, except all fees for church services, mortuaries, and surplice fees, for 50 years or till Mr Hudson cease to be Vicar of Stanwix (if sooner), annual rent £170; proviso for repossession if rent fall more than 30 days into arrears, 24 June 1823 [copy c. 1823]

19. Agreement between the Rev. Joseph Hudson (the Vicar) and Walter Laidlow of Stanwix, enabling the latter to insert two windows onto the churchyard in the building he has bought from Mr Beck; for which he will give Mr Hudson "a Certain fine or tax" of 1d. a year, 10 June 1833

20. Assignment of district to the newly-built St John's Church, Houghton, by H.M. Commissioners for Building New Churches and by the Bishop of Carlisle, 22 November 1841 [copy c. 1841]

21. Memorandum of consecration of the [rebuilt] Stanwix Church on 23 June 1842, and of two parcels of land that day as churchyard extensions, the one given by the Bishop, the other by the Duke of Devonshire; plan of these on south of "Stannix Church Yard", attached, [1842]
