Further information: Mr Holehouse's accident happened on 1st September 1951, and claimed disablement benefit on 14th December 1951. The following assessments were done; 8/1/1952 20 per cent, 8/5/1952 10 per cent and 3/11/1952 5 per cent final. The medical appeal tribunal confirmed 5 per cent assessment from 9/12/52 to 8/6/1953 and made a further assessment of 3 per cent for life from 9/6/1953. He has been employed since September 1952 and is seeking 'light work.' Old occupation: Contract ripper. 01/09/1951 (accident date) to 08/12/1951 crushed injuries (sic) - fractured ribs and bruises - Bruised feet. Osteoarthritis also noted (knee and sacro-iliac joint). Medical report 21/02/1953 states 'Most of this man's disability is due to a pre-existing condition i.e. osteoarthritis, knee and great toes'. Mr Holehouse : ' I see my doctor occasionally for rubbing oils'. Last occupation: Working Men's Club steward then club reorganised so out of work. Appealed to the Commissioner, who concluded his report: ' I allow the appeal of the claimant's organisation and award the claimant increase of disablement benefit...' [CI 89/53] -
