Description

Account or day book of Thos. Edge: at front - index & memos. re. stock & crops etc.; Evett account against Edward Smith for year 1778; deliveries of wheat to Paul Simson at Bobbers Mill - wheat appears to have come from Bilborough; deliveries of barley to Thos. England, Nottingham maltster, barley from Strelley; work done for Thos. Edge since he left Strelley by individual men - threshing beans at Bilborough, threshing wheat, winnowing wheat, hedging in the turnip close, digging ground to sew the haws, fencing the field fences, threshing oats and rye grass, delivering barley to Ilkeston and bringing malt back, ploughed land for sowing beans, spreading muck, scabbing sheep. At end memos. re. timber poles, warding (mating) of bitch Famous by Mr. Howitts dog Trimmer reckoned to be the best "bread dog in England", with details of pedigree; fillies foaled.
