Dorman Long & Co. Ltd. - Visitors Book: British Empire Exhibition

Visitors book from the Dorman Long stand (no.43; Palace of Engineering) at the British Empire Exhibition which was held at Wembley, London. At the time the exhibition was the largest ever held, with a reputed 27 million people visiting. The exhibition was housed in a number of halls, with the Dorman Long stand being found in the Palace of Engineering (which was only demolished in the 1970's).
The volume is bound in vellum with gold embossed detailing on the front cover. The first entry is on the 23rd April and the last was made on the 1st November with a total of 1451 individuals signing their name as a record of visiting the stand. Along with a signature, each individual leaves an address (often just a country or city), revealing that the visitors to the exhibition were drawn from all over the world.
