Description (What the record is about)
-
Letter from HW Askew of Walton-on-Thames to Mr Sawrey saying that ink in Broughton must be frozen as he has not heard from Mr S. for such a long time. H.W.A. has heard from Tolming who writes of his trip to stone crushing mills with J.S. H.W.A. would like to try using the resulting cement. He talks of the building of his house and pleasure garden, to be surrounded by an iron sheet fence covered in coal tar. He will put in gas as the apparatus needed for 80 lights would fir "inside a first class railway compartment". H.W.A. explains the process used to produce gas, 15 December 1877.
